* * * Halloween goes with a Bang in the Peak * * * A weekend of bumps in the night and good caving was had by all when BAT headed to the Peaks. Tom unfortunately had to drop out due to swine flu so we crammed into two cars and drove to our residence for the weekend a small scout cottage in Derbyshire. Saturday the group headed down Carlswark Cavern and found a dry spell had opened up some otherwise too wet sections of the cave to be explored so we all got to visit the in house gnomes and see some new passages. They all got to abseil into the eyam dale shaft and exit by the main entrance which for some was the first time so a novel experience. Saturday night was spent on a drop hike when the explorers where blind folded and driven to an undisclosed location in the peak. Dropped off with a map but not directions or compass and left to find there way back to the hut. They surpassed expectations and managed to get back home in a exceptional time and all seemed to enjoy the experience and want a greater challenge next time though Becca did get scared going passed the graveyard on route! Sunday bad weather greeted the team in the morning so we all headed to Dovedale for a walk up the dale and a quick visit to some of the local caves. * * * Halloween in the Peak * * * Halloween BAT are heading to the Peak District for a weekend full of bumps in the night lots of frights and plenty of caving. Let Paul know if you are coming!
* * * South Wales August '09 - Take Two * * * After the sucess of the last South Wales trip BAT headed back to Ystradfellte for another go at the wonderous caves of Wales. Unfortunately due to rain the waters were too high to do a number of the caves planned so the team headed back into Porth Yr Ogof for two days of playing, exploring and filming in the waters. Great fun was found in the rushing water but the through trip was out due to this high water. On Monday the team decided to stop off in Mendip on the way back to do a traditional sump one trip in Swildons only to find many things had once again changed in Swildons due to high water. In the wet way an entirely new passage had been created by the power of the water but undetered they headed down and through sump one. Jamie also managed to climb the ladder pitch with no ladder but on a rope so well done to both explorers who did the trip. BAT also bought its first tent which was a large Tee-Pee tent so hopefully the first of many. Also the team hunted out good places to eat in South Wales so another trip is once again planned for next year.
